Two Toned Flower Alligator Clip

Me and Alexis were shopping at Micheal's one night before Girl Scouts started and she saw these awsome flowers and new I needed to make some hair clips, she said mainly for Pivia, shes our hair clip gal.

I am using a 1 3/4 inch Alligator Clip that I lined with white 3/8 inch Gross Grain ribbon.

Don't forget to heat seal your edges.
These are the flowers we picked out there is also anouther color but not pictured in this post.

Here I am showing how to remove them.
Using scissors I cut the leaves into three pieces.
Wire snips to cut off the flowers from the stems.
Takeing them apart to be able to put two flowers together.
The one flower on the left is what your going for, it will give you a fuller looking clip.

You will have excess flower centers and backs along with leaves, I give the leaves and any odd or funny looking petals to my girls for their crafts and threw away the stems and centers.
Out of two bunches you can get up to four flowers that are double layered.

There were 6 bunches of flowers per pack and three flower on each, some of the flowers already had two sets of petals on them which was pretty cool.
I use a Low Temp glue gun to adhere the ribbon to the Alligator clip and a Hot Temp glue gun to adhere the flower and leave to the lined Alligator clip.
It all depends on how much leaf you would like to show from the side of your flower.

You can adhere the leaf to either side or you can even use two leaves one on each side.
All done

How the back looks

I used a decent size glob of Hot Glue to adhere the flower because its not an even surface.

Just make sure you don't add too much hot glue because it will spue over.

No Sew Spring Fabric Hair Bow

I have been very interested in the Fabric Hair Bows that I have been seeing around but I do not like to sew.

So I went on You Tube and Pinterest and gave it a try.

Little prints work best for the fabric bows.

I found a variety on clearance at Walmart the last time I went and got groceries.

Start off by cutting a piece 6 inches wide.
 Then cut 8 inches long.

A rotary cutter is nice but a pair of sharp scissors will work as well.

A tip to keep those fabric scissors sharp is to put a ribbon on the handle so that you know those are only for ribbon.

I am also using a T-Squared ruler to help me get a straight cut.
Have the 8 inch long side pretty faced down.

Fold in half and on that half line add a line of hot glue and fold the bottom to that glue line.
You can turn the fabric around or you can work with it the way it is.

Add anouther line of hot glue right on the seem of the first line of glue and fold the fabric over.
Fold in half to create a seem.

Add anouther line of hot glue on the seem and bring one side of the fabric to the glue.
Repeat add a line of glue on the folded seem and bring the fabric over so it joins.
Your going to add a dab of glue to the center where the seems match and fold the fabric up just a 1/4 of an inch to create a fold.

Do the same to the top.
 Flip it over and repeate.

You are basicly acordian folding the fabric.

Make sure to hold in place for a few seconds to let the glue set and dry.
It kind of looks like a hot mess.

I am also using a Hot Temp Glue Gun that I got from Hobby Lobby in their fabric/ribbon section.
Pick up bow between your finger for the final fold.

See picture, add a dab of glue and hold tell set.
This is the front side no seems or edges.
This was my first attempt, its crocked but I don't care, I did it.
Take a small piece 1 /12 inches wide by 3 inches long and fold in half again.

Add a ling of glue on the fold and bring up one side of the fabric.
Again do the same thing, add a line of glue and slightly overlap.

Trim off the edges.
Have the back of the bow faceing you so the pretty side is faceing down.

Glue one side towards the middle and then fold the other side and glue it down.

You can trim if if its too long before you glue the final flap down.

You do not want it to start to show on the front.
Attach to an Alligator clip and your good to go.
Can wear it on the side or make a messy bun and put it above it.

Alexis likes it Messy Bun way, she is 8 years old.
This kid Alivia who loves hair bows was not having it and I had to bribe her for a photo.
 Top Messy Bun.
Here is a way to be able to interchange the clips and bows.

You will want to add a dab of glue to the top and sides to secure, not all the way around.
The lined alligator clip is not glued, just resting on top.
 You see that tiny hole.

You can glue the two flaps like shown.

The alligator clip will slide in and out no problem and can be used for all different hair bows.
You can also attach to a barrette clip.

Take apart the clip, the center piece.
Glue down the front to the center.

Try and get it centered but it is OK if its not.
Wrap around the middle piece and glue over the barrette piece.
This is how it will look with both wrapped around the barrette clip.
Re attach the middle piece and there you go a barrette clip.

Spring Hair Bow/ Hair Clip holder

I decided to make a Spring version of my hair bow/ hair clip holders.   My girls do have a three bin compartment with alot of hair accesories in them but I like to have my hand made special bows displayed out in the open.

Links to other Bow Holders Valentines, Halloween, Fall, 4th of July.

I started off with my super of a deal .89 cent chalk board signs from Micheal's clearance section a while back.

Wax paper to cover so I can design without making a mistake.
Like how I first thought I would use the white bird but changed my mind and went with two birds.

Tombow Mono Liquid Glue to adhere them together.
Some Vellum card stock scraps and also some Tombow Mono Liquid Glue again.
I trimmed them down and added more glue.

I started with the center letters and worked my way out to make sure I centered the word Spring.
I am using 22 inches of gross grain ribbon.

One 3/8 inches wide for the center and two 7/8 inch wide for the outside edges.

My grid mat makes placement very easy.
I was going to use 20 inches and glue the two inches but I decided to go with 21 inches and glue down the 1 inch remainder.
All done, I added some tiny black pearls for their eyes.

Side view, sparkly silver thickers I think make it perfect on the black chalkboard frame.
