Mummy Alligator Clip

I have always wanted to make a Mummy Clip not only for my girls but also for craft shows.

I found my inspiration on Pinterest, CLICK HERE to see.

I made a holder for these bows, would you like to see them CLICK HERE.

I used a circle die from my stash and some white felt from my local craft store to cut out a bunch of about 2 inch in dieameter circles using my Big Shot tool.

You will need two per mummy, one for the front and one for the back.
I lined a 1.75 inch Alligator Clip with some White 3/8 inch Gross Grain ribbon.

If you need help on how to line an Alligator Clip CLICK HERE.

I Hot Glued some Google Eyes in the center.
These are just about 3 inches long, I did not heat seal the edges because they will be sealed in the inside by putting on the second white felt circle on top.

I used 6-7 3 inch strips on each mummy face.

One at a time a line of glue then the 3 inch strip.
Turn over and add a little dab of Hot Glue to each end and fold over.
I used some last year pre made ribbon bows that have some foam on the back, it is easy to pull off.

I Hot Glued them onto the mummy face.
All done, Hot Glue the other felt circle on top.

Run your glue just shy of the edge so that it will not ooze out when you press the other felt circle on top.
The back, I choose the circle die based on the size of the Alligator Clip, it is pretty much covered by the mummy face.

Poinsettia Alligator Clip

Done it again, taken a Hobby Lobby embellishment and turned it into an Alligator clip for my girls, family, frientds, and craft shows.

These come in a pack of 4 for $2.99, I purchased them when they were 40% off.

I gently remove the foam on the back first.
You are going to need ribbon scissors, hot glue, alligator clips, flame or lighter, and green 3/8 inch gross grain ribbon.

To make sure the leaves stayed with the flower petals I added a small line of glue that would not show from the back.

Fall Felt Leaf Alligator Clips

Again, I am using some felt pieces to make hair accessories for my girls.

This time I am using some Table Scatter decorations that I purchased at the Dollar Store.

If you need to learn how to line an Alligator Clip CLICK HERE.

I made holders for the felt leaf clips, to view CLICK HERE.

In each bag I had five pieces of yellow and green leaf, the red had ten leaves.

I was able to make five hair clips from each package, I will use the big leaves on a different project or give to my girls to use on their own projects.
I am using a brown gross grain 5/8 inch ribbon to line my alligator clip.

I add a small line of hot glue right along the center between the two leaves near the bottom.
You can see some of the alligator clip peeking out each side of the leaf.

So I basicly centered the leaf of the clip.
The same way a small line of hot glue between the bottom leaves and placed on top so the the stems would line up some what.
I am using some brown and white bakers twine along the vine.

I added a small amount of hot glue under the know and a bit behind each loop of the bow.
 I trimmed off the ends.

This shows the front and back of the alligator clip.

Felt Sunflower Hair Barrettes

These Felt Sunflower hair barrettes are so quick and easy! They will take less then half hour to make and you will have six of them.  Some for your girls and maybe some for their friends or fellow family members.

I have a post on how to line Barrette clips, I am using 2 inch and 2.3 inch barrette clips.

I have made some cut holders for these Sunflower Felt clips CLICK HERE to see.

When I saw these at Hobby Lobby I about jumped because #1 the size if perfect for a barrette clip and #2 there is only a tiny foam circle on the back that I have to remove.

Some felt pieces that have adhesive on the entire back do not work well for bow/clip makeing.
I removed the foam circle from the back and choose two sized barrette clips and a nice 3/8 inch brown gross grain ribbon from my stash.

The 2 inch barrette fits my Pivias fine hair perfectly, I needed 2 1/2 inches of gross grain ribbon.

The 2.3 inch barrette works well for Lexi thick hair, I needed 3 inches of gross grain ribbon.

Heat seal your edges.
That foam was a little too stick, I got pretty much all of it off and not worried about whats left because the barrette will go over it.

I am adding a line of hot glue along the middle, basicly from stitch line to stitch line.
I am holding it down for a little for the glue to set.

Do not worry about the oozing of hot glue, I wait about thirty seconds and then place my finger over and remove the excess, its not very painful.
See there is the blob to the right of what I was able to remove and its more seamless and finished now.
Finished, top is the 2.3 and bottom is the 2 inch barrettes.

Halloween Hair Bow/Clip Holder

Here is my Halloween version of my Chalk Board Hair Bow/Clip holders.

If your interested I have a 4th of July and Fall one on my blog as well, just click on those words and it will take you right to the blog post.

I am using Old Olive card stock from Stampin UP that I covered the back with Sizzix double sided adhesive paper.

I used a Lawn Fawn die set called Coles ABC to cut out the work halloween.
As I started to lay them out they were croocked and I was going to straighten them but decided hey I like that and since this is for Lexi and Pivia I thought they would think it would be neat too.

So I went with it and took of the realease paper from the back of the letters and rubbed them down well.
I dug threw my Halloween/Fall embellishment bin and decided hey I am going to use these cut stickers.

They have green, purple, and orange in them and the girls will love how silly and cut they are.

I am using this 5/8 inch ribbon that was new this year at Micheal's.

Again I prefer a wider ribbon when making these holders, they will adhere the clips, bows, and barrettes better.

While the glue gun was heating up and the Tombow Mono Liquid glue was drying (I decided to glue down the stickers to make sure the hold would last).

I used my Wink of Stella in clear to cover the halloween letters to give them some shine.

Fall Hair Bow Holder

Happy Fall everyone, tonight I decided I need to make my Holiday bow holders because before you know it they will be here.

And since I just look at the weather for the next 10 days on my phone and all those days will be below 80, I think we can safely say Fall is now here.

I did make a 4th Of July hair bow holder with the same holder, Click Here to see how I made that one.

I decided to keep this very simple because it will be used in September and November.

Starting off with these chalk board tags that I purchased at Micheal's for less then $1 on clearance! (Lets just say after I got home and made the red white and blue one I went back and purchased all the remaining tags)

I am using some wood alphas that I got a Target.  Its from their Hand Made Modern collection and the font is Helvetica.
I used some Tombow Mono Liquid glue to adhere the letters, a little goes a long way. I placed a stamping block on top while it dried, less then 5 minutes.
I am using from Hobby Lobby some wood embellishment leaves.
Also from Hobby Lobby I am going to use this Fall Crafts ribbon.

Its 5/8 inch, I feel that it is best when making bow and hair clip holders that you use a wider ribbon for them to sick on, especially if you have barrettes.

I cut the ribbon 22 inches long, so after glueing to the back it will be about 20 inches long.
A hot glue gun of course which is a low temp and works just fine, I purchased from Micheal's.
Finished

Hair Bow Hanger for the Red, White, and Blue

I decided the girls need a hanger for their Red, White, and Blue clips.  As I searched threw Micheal's and Hobby Lobby looking for some sort of Star of Flag shaped wood piece and not being able to find anything I decided to think out side the box and came across a clearance isle in Micheal's.

Going threw my die cut alpha stash to find a size that would fit the words Red, White, and Blue.

I choose a Lawn Fawn set called Quins ABC's.

This is a chalk board tag from Micheal's priced at $.76, yep less then a dollar three quarters and a penny. WOW, I may need to grab a few more.
Here I am using some heavy weight card stock in Red, White, and Blue colors.

Also using some Sizzix Adhesive sheets to make the letters stick to the sign.

Which was a BLESSING because in the end the blue pictured was was too dark and I was able to peel them off and add a different blue.
I cut three pieces of 5/8 inch white gross grain ribbon to 20 inches long.

Don't forget to heat seal the edges.

I got this for $2.00 at Micheal's with a coupon and have plenty left for other projects.
Hot glue to the back about 1 inch of the ribbon.

Space them to your liking.
Finished product

Close up, I like this blue alot more.

All the Red, White, and Blue hair clips, and barrettes I have made so far.

Red, White, and Blue Flower Clip using fake Flowers

Here is anouther Red, White, and Blue hair clip idea.

I found these stacks of fake flowers in my closet, I must have purchased them at least 1 year or more ago, well I am finally putting them to go use.

Here are my Red, White, and Blue fake flower from my stash, just use some wire cutters and pull the stems off.

I cut out some circle felt pieces in white, two for each clip.

They are just about 1/8 inch larger then the end of the clip.

Add a dab of glue on one end and place your felt on top.

Add a dab more and place the second felt on top and squish them together.

Add one flower piece on top with a small dab of glue.

Add the same one just off center to give the flower more fluff with a little dab of glue.

And repeat, dab of glue off center.

And one last time, off center and dab of glue as well as a cut gem in the center with anouther dab of glue.

And finished, here is the front and back. Super simple under twenty minutes.
